Our Team

Carol Angerer joined the firm in 2006 and became a CPA in 2009. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. Carol has also obtained the CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) designation from the AICPA. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with dual majors in Accounting and Financial Services from Columbia College. Carol’s public accounting experience focuses in the area of business and individual taxation, as well as financial statement preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll. Before joining the firm, Carol worked with her parents in their family business, Timothy J. Barnhart, DDS, PC, in Westphalia, MO.

Carol is originally from Vienna, MO and currently resides in the Brazito area of rural Cole County with her husband, Craig, and their two children, Luke and Jacob. Carol is active in the community and has served on numerous church boards and is the past Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the HALO Foundation. Carol and her family are members of Trinity Lutheran Church and her boys are students at Calvary Lutheran High School and Trinity Lutheran School. Carol is an avid reader and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends.

Mia Roark joined the firm in January 2022. She grew up in Jefferson City and graduated from homeschooling in 2020. She graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in December of 2023, and is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting also at Lincoln University.

In her spare time, Mia enjoys reading, baking, attending live music concerts, and spending time with her family, especially her nephew and 2 nieces.

Gina Edwards joined the firm in November 2021. She attended Saint Louis University (SLU) where she graduated Cum Laude in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She also attended Columbia College. During her time at SLU, she had two internships focused on individual taxation. Prior to joining Abbott & Angerer she worked at another local firm where her focus was on payroll and accounts payable work.

Gina was born and currently resides in Jefferson City where she graduated from Helias High School. In her spare time, Gina enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and his daughter, her family, and playing with her dog, Ronnie.

Lisa Cook joined the firm in July 2017. She is a graduate of New Bloomfield High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration from Lincoln University. Lisa obtained her Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) in October of 2008 and brings many years of payroll experience to the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Lisa worked for JCMG as a Payroll Practitioner. Lisa oversees the payroll processing for our clients and maintains her FPC certification to ensure we are current with the ever changing payroll laws and regulations.

Lisa is a resident of Jefferson City, along with her husband, Jeff, and their two children, Quentin and Cassandra. Jeff has been employed with Scholastic, Inc. for more than twenty five years. In her spare time Lisa enjoys reading and spending time with her family and volunteering at Baristocats Cat Cafe.

Karen Koetting joined Abbott & Angerer in September of 2020. She graduated from Blair Oaks High School. She grew up in Wardsville on a farm with nine siblings. She values the life lessons her parents and older siblings have taught her, especially the importance of hard work and treating your neighbor with kindness. She spent thirty years working many different jobs in a medical clinic. Once the physician she was working for retired, she was excited to try something new.

She loves to meet and greet clients and make sure they feel welcome and satisfied with the services they receive. Karen and her husband Doug live in Henley, MO where they own a farm with crops and cattle. Her husband is a mechanic and, in general, a jack of all trades. They have two grown children: Alee and Adam, who are both graduated from college and are establishing their careers. In their spare time, they love to hang out on their farm, in the “shed”, with family and friends and just visit and play games and cards, mostly pitch and volleyball. Weather permitting, most weekends in the summer, you will find them on the Osage River.
